NEW MUSIC

Teyana Taylor – ‘The Cassette Tape 1994’

‘The Cassette Tape 1994’ - Anytime I see a title with the 90's in it, the musical interest peeks to new heights.  Add G.O.O.D. Music's Teyana Taylor to the mix of the news title and mouse clicks will be happening until the site comes up.  The music recreations were done perfectly to compliment new lyrics and her infectious voice.  There are 5 new songs of good summer fun that can't be turned off from beginning to end.  Side-note: (WARNING) This may not be for the person who doesn't want to hear any variations to the original music of some of 90s biggest hits.

Teyana Taylor has kept up social status in 2015 with her debut album VII which was underrated but for R&B fans it was a classic that will be appreciated years after its birth.

The Eminem Effect - Why Meek Mill Can't Win Against Drake

Anyone who has ever seen the movie 8 Mile knows that Eminem brought about the resurgence of battle rap.  Though battle rap has been around since the beginning of hip-hop, Eminem's movie highlighted a specific style of battle.  The Psychological Break down approach.   This is something that Drake (or his writers) are very good at because its his complete style of rap (Let me also give props where its due by stating that Kanye & Eminem pioneered the style "in the mainstream" since entering the music scene as artists).  It's clear that audiences always respond better when you make them think about what's being said.  So, when its time for Meek Mill to respond and he brings that fire aggression, that's signature to his style, but doesn't really break down Drake's faults then it just comes across as the same ole same ole.

The reality is battle rap or diss tracks were taken to another level when Ether dropped by Nas.  Jay-Z was killing Nas with his wit and arrogant flow initially but in the final rounds Nas came through with a winner.  Nas broke down Jay-Z so badly that, in my opinion, he delivered the knock out blow that made him the clear winner in their rap battle.  Nas clearly used the Psychological Break down approach and had Jay-Z fans like  DAAAAAMMMNNNN!

Now, I could be wrong.  Meek Mill may come back with diss after diss with an arsenal of punch lines, metaphors and jabs to put Drake in his place but as history shows people rarely deviate from their style of rap.  So, Ideally Drake is probably laughing all the way to the bank because for the kid everyone secretly hated on, he is now becoming the guy you want to win.

Anthony Lewis - "Its Not My Fault" Ft T.I. (Under The Radar)

The industry has been able to produce some quality singers over the past few years.  But, the faces of R&B have been the same in the mainstream media since 2005.  Here in 2015, major labels have been attempting a push of some very talented young R&B artists.  Anthony Lewis is in that pool and making his way to the top of the list.  His latest effort "It's Not My Fault" is a funky fun sampled horn driven song that will generate a few nods of the head and taps of your feet.  T.I. brings in the major flow on the song to give it that slight edge of street credibility.

Joe - Love & Sex Pt. 2 ft. Kelly Rowland

Mr. Joe Thomas is surely in the running for Mr. Consistent.  We have seen Joe grow musically with time but the one thing he has not swayed from is Soul R&B Music.  He focuses on love and relationships like no other.  Album after album he gives his fans exactly what they want and expect.  His latest effort Love & Sex Pt. 2 ft. Kelly Rowland chronicles two critical factors in maintaining a solid relationship in 2015.  You be the judge.
